Things to do in Rincon, CA

July 20-23
This is the view from our 3rd floor room (Garden Cove) at the Harrah's Casino. Jacuzzi at night- I miss it already!
The fitness room - adjacent to the pool/jacuzzi. Not bad.

Sunday was sea food at the at International Buffet. I ate a lot of these crab legs. Yum yum! (There's my glass of milk. Sorry, no nonfat!)

I didn't see thse oysters until Tuesday. Plus I had some cocktail shrimps. Oysters are aphrodisiacs, I told them ladies.

The only sweets that I had, I swear! (You believe me?) Those that look like chocolate balls rolled over shredded coconuts were the best called "rum balls". Oatmeal cookies are very healthy, you know that already. And chocolate is good for you - it actually lowers your blood pressure (esp. the dark ones!)

I've heard there's only one person with the "Seven Stars" treatment. Hey, we're not big time gamblers!

Probably a modern place of worship for the American Idians. It is walking distance from the casino.

Before you ever reach this area, you will pass by miles of orchards and lots of greenhouses where they grow cacti. Sign says, "Cupid's Castle". Hmmmm...

We were looking for this place though...

the dog park in Escondido.

He is also a dog lover...like me, of course!

And a stop at the outlet store in Lake Elsinore.

Any Idea What This Flower Is?

Look at how pretty this flower is!
Problem is, I have no clue what this flower is. It looks like some cactus flower, but still not sure.

Picnic at the Lake

Silverwood Lake was formed by the 249-foot Cedar Springs Dam. At 3,350 feet, it is the highest reservoir in the State Water Project. The park features hiking trails, swimming beaches and designated areas for boating, water-skiing and fishing. The lake has trout, large-mouth bass, catfish and bluegill. There is a marina with a launching ramp, boat and equipment rentals, and a store. The park has picnic areas, including three that can only be reached by boat. The lakes attracts waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Canada Geese and an occasional bald eagle can be seen in the area. Pacific Crest Trail The Pacific Crest Trail is the jewel in the crown of America’s scenic trails, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada through three western states. The trail passes through five California State Parks: Castle Crags and McArthur-Burney Falls in Northern California; and Silverwood Lake, Anza Borrego Desert and Mt San Jacinto in Southern California

Plums For Everyone!

Most of the plums are starting to ripe and fall off the tree all together. Most of them being eaten by wild birds.

Some of them were given to neighbors and family friends. I gave some to the crossing guard!

There's so much I don't know what to do! It's overwhelming when you see it bear all these fruits!

My dog has no idea what to do too!

Gourds

These are birdhouse gourds (about 8" long), that I started from seeds. I don't have any experience growing them but I think I'm on the right direction. I have about five of these now on vines that are growing wildly to my neighbor's yard. She will have some gourd too, soon.

Happy 4th!!!

I was at Monvoria, California to celebrate Independence Day. The promenade on Myrtle and Olive Ave was packed with people. Fireworks wasn't great at all. One guy even said, "The ending was sad." Yep, the best one was in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl. I should have celebrated there.

Luffa

My luffa is doing great! This is one of two luffa fruits that survived. It started with about ten luffas but they've all rot one after the other. Can't wait to see this mature, dry, and make it into a luffa scrub.
