Can you see the female flower bud?
Here's a female flower bud in full bloom.

How to Propagate Chayote

Partially bury a well-matured chayote (the entire fruit) in a well-drained soil (regular potting soil or sand) with the narrow end exposed out. Water and leave it under full sun and watch the fruit split open in about two weeks when shoots emerge. Replant in a sunny location and make sure to stake it.

A New Addition to My Coleus Collection

I've started collecting different types of coleus last year but some of them did not survive the cold weather after I carelessly left them outside. Now I'm starting my new collection of coleus and I have a new addition to it - the coleus x hybridus "Rustic Orange". I'll post pictures of my collection on my next post.

Cannas in Flower!

Finally the canna lily that I bought from the store (they were tubers) is in bloom. They are all growing in pots and some are sending shoots. I'm thinking of replanting them on the ground so they'll grow bigger. This is one of the two types of canna lilies that I have growing.

My Cacti/ Succulents Centerpiece

I planted a mixture of cacti and succulents in a nice terracotta pot for the outdoor table months ago and noticed that some of them started flowering. I am so happy to see these plants flower as I've never seen any of these plants' flowers. They are obviously loving their new place as a centerpiece for the table. One of the succulents is starting to propagate itself too by growing plantlets on the edge of it's leaves. I'll post an update when I finally separate these plantlets on the mother plant.

Update on Mammoth Sunflower

The center part of the sunflower is swelling huge! This has the precious seeds. By the way, this of the five mammoth sunflowers that I have growing in my yard has the best growth towering at approximately 8 feet!
